About the European Migration Network (EMN)

The European Migration Network (EMN) is an EU network of migration and asylum experts who work together to provide objective, comparable policy-relevant information and knowledge on emerging issues relating to asylum and migration in Europe.

EMN was established in 2008 (Council Decision 2008/381/EC) and amended by Regulation (EU) No 516/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council in April 2014. DG HOME coordinates EMN.

There are EMN National Contact Points (NCPs) in all EMN countries. Each EMN NCP is appointed by the relevant national government. EMN NCPs are located within Ministries of Interior and of Justice, specialised government agencies dealing with migration, research Institutes, non-governmental organisations or national offices of international organisations.

EMN produces reports, studies and policy briefs with analysis of policy and legislative development and implementation. The EMN publishes the latest developments in a regular bulletin and maintains a glossary of migration and asylum-related terms. The network also organises webinars, roundtables and other events and conferences on a regular basis, both at EU-and national level.

EMN Events

Each year the EMN organises two annual EMN Conferences in collaboration with the respective EU Presidency, as well as EU-level events on migration or asylum issues. At Member State-level, National Contact Points organise conferences and events to share information on migration and asylum related issues with policy makers and a national audience.
